CCN, Cilegon. On Wednesday morning, May 3, 2023, around 109 people from the city of Cilegon took the Equivalency Education Exam (UPK) at PKBM Teratai. They were enthusiastic about taking the exam, with 73 taking the Package C exam, 27 taking the Package B exam, and 9 taking the Package A exam.
Several people supervised the UPK activities, such as the Head of the Early Childhood and Non-Formal Education Management Division of the Cilegon Education and Culture Office, Vania Eriza, the Chairman of the UPK Committee H. Abdul Karim, and 8 Exam Supervisors. Exam participants hoped that the UPK results would allow them to pursue higher education and get better jobs.
According to Vania Eriza, the purpose of monitoring was to ensure that the UPK activities went smoothly. PKBM has done a good job in the UPK process for 2023. Vania added that the Cilegon Education and Culture Office will promote UPK so that the community can compete with people outside Cilegon who are pursuing careers in Cilegon. Vania also stated that UPK is equivalent to other formal education.
The Chairman of the PKBM Teratai UPK Committee also stated that the UPK activities are equivalent to other formal education, ranging from Package A, B, to C. Even some PKBM Teratai alumni who took the Package C UPK continued their studies at universities, and some PKBM Teratai graduates received a Full Bachelor’s Scholarship from the Program of Cilegon Mayor Helldy Agustian through the Cilegon Education and Culture Office. The Chairman of the UPK Committee also hopes that the community is increasingly aware that education can be achieved not only through formal education, and that the government believes in non-formal equivalency education generally, that IPM and IPK can also be achieved through equivalency education.
