CCN, Cilegon. UMKM (Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises) in Cilegon, Indonesia play an important role in the local economy. The UMKM in Cilegon are diverse, ranging from handicrafts, food and beverage businesses, to creative industries and technology.
One of the factors influencing the development of UMKM in Cilegon is the training and mentoring provided by the local government. The Department of Cooperatives, Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, and Trade of Cilegon often holds training and guidance for UMKM owners to improve the quality of their products and business management.
On May 3, 2023, the Department of Cooperatives of Cilegon visited UMKM Oemah Arga in Arga Baja Pura Kotasari Gerogol Cilegon. Oemah Arga offers various types of fresh cakes and bread made from high-quality ingredients.
Oemah Arga believes that every customer deserves the best quality products at an affordable price. One of their missions is to provide delicious and healthy cakes and bread to the local community.
Their products are freshly baked every day to ensure that customers get the best quality and taste. Their menu includes eclairs, floss rolls, pizza, donuts, sweet bread, banana pastry, klapertaart, budapest roll, macaroni schotel, croffle, lasagna, zupa soup, brownies, cheese cake, and more.
Bobby and Aya, the owner of UMKM Oemah Arga, said that their bakery offers various types of bread, including classic white bread, whole wheat bread, and sourdough bread. Their cakes and pastries are also very popular, including cheese rolls, chocolate cake, and banana bread signature.
Oemah Arga UMKM Bakery is committed to supporting the local economy by sourcing their ingredients from local suppliers. “We believe in using only high-quality and natural ingredients to make our products. Our team is enthusiastic about baking and dedicated to providing the best products and services to our customers,” said Aya.
“Some of our products have even been ordered as souvenirs by customers’ relatives in Malaysia, for example, our clair product (a creamy, melt-in-your-mouth type of cream puff) because it tastes so delicious,” she added.
Bobby sees positive progress in the support given by the central and local government towards UMKM, and the visit from the department is seen as an endorsement and promotion. Many stores have started to emerge, from the district level to national (Smesco).
However, there are still some challenges faced by UMKM owners in Cilegon, such as limited access to a wide market, limited human resources, and a lack of supportive business infrastructure. Therefore, the support and collaboration between the government, business owners, and the community are crucial to improve the growth of UMKM in Cilegon.
“It is hoped that the Department’s support will be structured, measurable, and sustainable with a focus on outcomes, including easy-to-understand business credit, assistance in obtaining certification, promotion, and most importantly, sustainable and quality UMKM development so that we can produce resilient and competitive UMKM,” he concluded.
