CCN, Cilegon – The Merdeka Curriculum, which is one of the government’s policies, is not only implemented at the higher or secondary education levels but also for early childhood education. Early Childhood Education is the initial stage in shaping the golden generation, which serves as the foundation for further learning. Therefore, a strong understanding of implementing the Merdeka Curriculum at the Early Childhood Education (ECE) level is crucial.

Ali Mahtum, Sumamah, Elly Mulyawati, and Toyibah, who are part of the IKM inspection team, have initiated a significant effort in the Cibeber District of Cilegon City. This initiative is part of the Follow-up Plan (RTL) they designed after participating in a 15-day online Merdeka Curriculum training. The event was attended by 77 participants, including 12 ECE school principals and 65 ECE teachers.

The goal of the Dissemination and Strengthening of Merdeka Curriculum Implementation (IKM) is to provide a deep understanding of various important aspects of the Merdeka Curriculum to early childhood education supervisors.

One of the key focuses of this IKM Strengthening Dissemination is how to design ECE learning to ensure that participants understand Foundational Learning Outcomes, Learning Objectives, and Learning Objective Sequences. This is a critical step in developing the Operational Curriculum for Educational Institutions  that aligns with the spirit of Independent Learning.

Ali Mahtum, as a member of the IKM Strengthening Dissemination team, emphasizes the importance of understanding the foundations of early childhood education. “Foundation skills are built upon various aspects of development, knowledge concepts, and integrated values, grouped in the form of elements. Sub-elements are groups of skills that collectively build an element. As these sub-elements are part of the elements, each sub-element needs to be facilitated in ECE activities so that children receive holistic guidance on learning outcomes,” he stated.

It is hoped that the Dissemination and Strengthening of Merdeka Curriculum Implementation in Early Childhood Education in the Cibeber District will mark the beginning of an effort to enhance the quality of early childhood education and establish a strong foundation for future learning. With a better understanding of the Merdeka Curriculum, ECE supervisors in this region can provide a more meaningful and relevant educational experience for the future golden generation. (Ahdi)
