CCN, Cilegon. The event organized by the community of Kubang Saron, Tegal Ratu Village, Ciwandan, was successfully held on Saturday, August 19, 2023.
Carrying the theme ‘Local Identity,’ Sofiulloh, the Chief Organizer of Q Saron Folk Festival, explained that this event provided a creative space for the people of Kubang Saron. “We presented artistic performances ranging from dances to poetry recitals, music to cabaret theater, such as the ‘bebersih’ dance, ‘sajojo’ dance by the mothers, ‘manuk dadali’ dance, and the collaborative ‘walijamaliha’ dance involving dancers from the Ciwandan region, followed by a cabaret,” he said.
Sofi also clarified that the purpose of this event was to introduce the local aspect and Ciwandan’s loyalty to the arts and culture of Cilegon City. “This stage serves as evidence that the people of Kubang Saron, who are generally Ciwandan residents, still hold onto local traditions and cultures, such as the Cilegon Javanese language that we present in the cabaret performance,” he added.
In the same location, Ciwandan Subdistrict Head, Agus Ariyadi, expressed his appreciation for the folk festival that was held and for the event’s theme that embodies a sense of local identity. “From the moment I arrived, I saw that the event’s setup was on a provincial or even national level, and observing various art performances from children to mothers proves that Ciwandan is a culturally rich subdistrict,” he explained.
Agus also pointed out that there’s significant potential for creative industries among the people of Ciwandan. “In the future, we hope that events like this can attract tourists while boosting the grassroots economy,” he emphasized.
During this festival, the Head of Culture Division in the Cilegon City Education Department, Tini Suswatini, and Raditya Putra from Krakatau International Port, a CSR sponsor, were also present.” (***)
