Cilegon, Indonesia — In a gesture of cultural diplomacy and educational exchange, Ayatullah Khumaeni, Chairman of the Cilegon City Cultural Council, welcomed cadets from the Indonesian National Police Academy (Akpol) accompanied by officers from the Cilegon Police Community Development Unit (Binmas).
The visit, part of the cadets’ community field training program, aimed to explore the role of local wisdom and cultural heritage in fostering a more humanistic approach to law enforcement.(May 28 th, 2025)
“Culture is the backbone of a nation. We value this initiative, which reflects a deep commitment to understanding the social and cultural realities of our people,” said Khumaeni during the reception at his residence.
Cadets expressed interest in integrating cultural awareness into community policing strategies. In response, Khumaeni introduced traditional martial arts unique to Cilegon—Timande, Terumbu, and Bandrong—as well as iconic local arts such as Ubrug and Debus. The session also included an introduction to local cuisine.
Police Inspector Ma’mun Effendi, Head of Operations at Cilegon Binmas, noted the importance of such engagements in building trust and enhancing cultural literacy among future law enforcement officers.
The visit concluded with an open discussion and a shared vision to collaborate further in cultural education and youth empowerment.
