CCN, Cilegon, Banten — The Cultural Heritage Preservation Center (BPK) Region VIII, in collaboration with the Cilegon City Education and Culture Office (Dindikbud) and the Cilegon City Cultural Council, has completed the data collection of objects suspected of being cultural heritage sites. This four-day activity aimed to identify and document the historical and cultural heritage found in Cilegon.
The joint team surveyed several key locations in Cilegon to carry out the data collection. Some of the objects successfully documented include:
Menara Kapur (Chalk Tower): An ancient structure with the potential to be a historical marker for the region.
Makam Ki Somad (Ki Somad’s Tomb): The tomb site of a local figure who holds historical and spiritual value.
Yayasan Maulana Hasanuddin (Maulana Hasanuddin Foundation): A building.
Makam Ki Wasyid (Ki Wasyid’s Tomb): The tomb of a freedom fighter or influential figure from the past.
Masjid Sumpah (Oath Mosque): A historic mosque with close ties to significant events in the past.
Artefak Nyi Bernok/Ki Lurah Rouf Jayalaksana (Nyi Bernok/Ki Lurah Rouf Jayalaksana Artifacts): Historical objects believed to be relics of these figures.
Kawasan Makam Syekh Ibrohim & Buyut Parlon (Sheikh Ibrohim & Buyut Parlon Tomb Complex): A burial complex that serves as the final resting place for two important figures.
Batu Lubang (Japanese Bunker).
Sumur Batu Lebak Gede (Lebak Gede Stone Well): An ancient well with a unique stone structure.
Sumur Tujuh (Seven Wells): A sacred well site often associated with folklore.
Maqom Ratu Nurwana (Ratu Nurwana’s Shrine): The shrine of a female figure who held an important position in the past.
Makam nisan Aceh (Acehnese Tombstone) at the Kawasan Makam Balung (Balung Tomb Complex).
Makam Ki Arya sintok (Ki Arya Sintok’s Tomb), Ciputri Bathing Area.
This data collection is a crucial initial step in the effort to preserve cultural heritage. After the data collection is complete, these objects will be further verified by a team of experts to determine their status as cultural heritage sites.

The collaboration among the Cultural Heritage Preservation Center, Cilegon’s Dindikbud, and the Cultural Council shows the local government’s strong commitment to safeguarding the historical identity of Cilegon City,” said Saiful Iskandar, a representative of the data collection team.
It is hoped that this data collection will increase public awareness about the importance of protecting historical sites and encourage everyone to work together to preserve the cultural richness that Cilegon possesses. (***)
