CCN, CILEGON — A tragic incident has cast a pall over the city of Cilegon. A 9-year-old child, the son of a member of the PKS Cilegon Expert Council, died after being fatally stabbed. The incident has sparked deep sorrow and widespread concern, particularly as the victim was an innocent child.

PKS Cilegon politician Qoidatul Sitta expressed her profound condolences over the tragedy, stating that no words could fully capture the depth of the family’s loss.

“We extend our deepest condolences for this deeply heartbreaking tragedy. Losing a child in such a manner leaves an immeasurable wound. Children are both a sacred trust and the future of the nation,” Qoidatul said in her official statement.

She expressed hope that the law enforcement process would proceed swiftly, transparently, and free from any interference, and that the perpetrator would be prosecuted in accordance with applicable laws.

According to her, the incident should serve as a serious reminder to all parties of the importance of maintaining safety within the community.

“On behalf of our extended family and community, we convey our deepest sympathies. We also urge the local government, together with security authorities, to enhance patrols and strengthen community security systems so that similar incidents do not occur again,” she emphasized.

Qoidatul added that the tragedy highlights the fact that child protection cannot be the responsibility of families alone. Governments, law enforcement agencies, community leaders, neighborhood associations, and residents all share a collective responsibility to create a safe and child-friendly environment.

“For any parent, a child is never at fault. Children are a trust from God who must be protected and cared for. Losing a child in this way is a profound sorrow that leaves a lifelong scar,” she said.

Regarding calls for severe punishment for the perpetrator, Qoidatul stressed that such decisions rest entirely with law enforcement authorities and the courts. However, from a legal standpoint, if elements of premeditated murder or other serious crimes are proven, the law provides room for the maximum possible sentence.

“The most important thing is that justice is upheld to the fullest extent, because the victim was an innocent child,” she concluded. (***)
