Cilegon, CCN – Prospective mayoral candidate from the Golkar Party, Robinsar, emphasized the importance of transparency in governance during a discussion organized by the Indonesian Journalists Association (PWI) of Cilegon City. The lively discussion took place on Wednesday, July 3, 2024, and was attended by five prospective mayoral candidates of Cilegon.
Robinsar explained that transparency involves the government’s openness in providing information about the management of public resources to the community. “The government should provide comprehensive information to the public so that they can understand the details of current and upcoming activities, including information regarding employment and other matters,” he said.
Additionally, Robinsar introduced the concept of “Cilegon Juara,” which emphasizes the values of honesty and transparency. “Honesty and transparency are our main commitments in future development programs. We strive to make Cilegon a city that is more honest, transparent, and of higher quality,” he added.
In the context of governance, Robinsar stressed that transparency in policies and budgets must align with Law Number 25 of 2004 concerning the National Development Planning System. “This law promotes a participatory and community-based policy and budget formulation concept, known as bottom-up planning,” he explained. He emphasized the importance of continuing development planning deliberations (musrenbang) at the neighborhood, district, and city levels to accommodate the real needs of the community.
Robinsar also highlighted concrete steps to enhance transparency in governance:
1. Collaboration with All Parties: Communicating and collaborating with various stakeholders, including Forkopimda (Regional Leadership Communication Forum) and the community, to formulate targeted programs.
2. Activation and Maximization of Electronic Systems: Utilizing integrated software systems such as e-budgeting, e-planning, e-rolling, and e-reporting to enhance transparency and efficiency in programs and budgets.
3. Providing Broad Access to Information for the Public: Developing applications that facilitate public access to information about policies and budgets through their gadgets.
4. Implementation of the Cilegon Smart City System: Implementing a smart city system that optimizes smart economy, smart government, and smart mobility parameters.
“In this era of digitalization, everything becomes easier. The Cilegon City Government must leverage technology to provide extensive information to the public,” Robinsar emphasized. He also underscored the importance of applications that integrate the entire process of policy formulation, budgeting, program implementation, and reporting, accessible directly by the public.
This discussion is expected to contribute positively to the democratic process in Cilegon and help the public obtain accurate and in-depth information. The newly appointed Chairman of PWI Cilegon, Kang Ican, also affirmed his commitment to enhancing journalistic quality in the city by delivering more in-depth and investigative information.
With a commitment to transparency and the implementation of the smart city concept, it is hoped that Cilegon will become a better, more honest, and transparent city, providing optimal public service to its residents. (***)
