CCN, TANGERANG — The performance of the Cilegon City Cultural Council (DKKC) became one of the main highlights of the Tangerang City Cultural Parade on Friday night (December 5, 2025).
Even before the parade began, the thunderous rhythm of the debus accompaniment had already drawn visitors’ attention, prompting crowds to gather around the front area of Metropolis Town Square.
The spotlight intensified when DKKC’s debus attraction was performed right in front of the main stage, witnessed directly by the Mayor of Tangerang, Sachrudin, who sat beside the Chairman of DKKC, Ayatullah Khumaeni.
The striking feats of the jawara debus, showcasing the endurance and physical strength characteristic of Banten’s tradition, earned roaring applause from invited guests.
Carrying the spirit of “Cilegon Juare,” the DKKC contingent delivered a performance that was jejeg, ajeg, aje usreg—firm, steady, and full of energy. The powerful debus music from the start served as a bold opener that reinforced Cilegon’s cultural identity.
Mayor of Tangerang, Sachrudin, expressed special appreciation for the contingent from Cilegon. He even stepped down from the main stage to directly interact and try one of the debus elements, Almadad Banten.
“We greatly appreciate DKKC’s presence, which brings the distinct cultural color of Banten. The debus attraction performed right in front of the main stage was truly mesmerizing. It shows that cultural collaboration between regions in Banten is vibrant and strong,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of DKKC conveyed that DKKC’s participation in the Tangerang City Cultural Parade is part of an effort to introduce Cilegon’s rich cultural heritage.
“With the spirit of Cilegon Juare, we want to show that Cilegon’s artists are ready to appear jejeg, ajeg, aje usreg while strengthening cultural networks between regions,” said DKKC Chairman Ayatullah Khumaeni.
This cultural parade is part of the 2025 Tangerang City Cultural Festival, involving various art groups from multiple regions. However, DKKC’s performance stood out as one of the event’s highlights thanks to its rich elements of helâran, ethnic costumes, and cultural as well as industrial symbols of Cilegon.
“The response from the Mayor and the audience was extraordinary. With the spirit of Cilegon Juare, we want to show that Cilegon’s artists are ready to perform on any stage,” he added.
DKKC’s participation in the 2025 Tangerang City Cultural Parade reaffirms that Cilegon is not only an industrial city but also a city rich in art, tradition, and living creativity within its communities.
DKKC’s presence was also supported by the Cilegon City Office of Education and Culture, the Office of Communication, Informatics, Statistics, and Cryptography, Apex Industri Nusantara, the Cilegon City Transportation Office, PT Krakatau Posco, and Gen Cilegon—one of Cilegon’s youth communities committed to creative and cultural movements.
