Cilegon Distributes Rp1.4 Billion in Scholarships to 1,674 Underprivileged Students

CCN, Cilegon – A total of 1,674 underprivileged students at the elementary and junior high school levels, or their equivalents, in the city of Cilegon have received scholarships distributed by the Cilegon City Education and Culture Office (Dindikbud). The total funds allocated for this scholarship amount to Rp1,478,520,000.

The breakdown of the funds includes elementary-level students, with a total of Rp538,920,000. Scholarships for 333 MDTA students amount to Rp600,000 per student, with a total of Rp199,800,000. In addition, 351 MI students receive Rp720,000 per student, totaling Rp252,720,000. Meanwhile, 120 private elementary school students receive Rp720,000 per student, amounting to Rp86,400,000.

As for junior high school-level students, the total funds distributed reach Rp939,600,000. Scholarships were awarded to 367 private junior high school students, each receiving Rp1,080,000, with a total of Rp396,360,000. Additionally, three SMPLB/SKH students received Rp1,080,000 per student, with a total of Rp3,240,000. Moreover, 500 MTs students were each granted Rp1,080,000, with a total fund of Rp540,000,000.

Mayor of Cilegon, Helldy Agustian, stated that this assistance is expected to help underprivileged students continue their education. (Wednesday, 18 September 2024).

“We are committed to supporting children from underprivileged families, such as orphans and those whose parents are less fortunate, so that they can continue their schooling. This program has been running for three years and will continue in the future,” said Helldy, Wednesday, 18 September 2024.

Helldy further emphasized that this assistance is a form of implementation of the 1945 Constitution and Pancasila in realizing social justice.

“We want all students, whether from public or private schools, to receive equal attention. This assistance is given to those who truly need it so that they can complete their education,” he explained.

The Head of the Cilegon Education and Culture Office, Heni Anita Susila, added that the scholarship applications are submitted by schools after a verification and validation process.

“After the verification process is completed, the schools submit applications through a grant mechanism. This year, the total funds distributed amount to Rp1,478,520,000 for 1,674 students,” she concluded. (***)
