CCN, Cilegon -As. part of the 100-day work program of the Mayor and Deputy Mayor of Cilegon, the Cilegon Education and Culture Office has established a strategic partnership with the Faculty of Civil Engineering, Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa State University (Untirta) to conduct a mapping of infrastructure damage in public educational institutions at the kindergarten, elementary, and junior high school levels throughout Cilegon City.
A team of experts from Untirta, along with students, conducted a 15-calendar-day survey of school building damages, covering 16 public kindergartens, 149 public elementary schools, and 16 public junior high schools.
The presentation of the survey results was held on Thursday, April 17, 2025, in the mayor’s meeting room. The event was attended by the Deputy Mayor of Cilegon, the Regional Secretary of Cilegon, the Assistant for Regional Affairs I, the Head of the Education and Culture Office of Cilegon along with staff, as well as representatives from the Regional Development Planning Agency (Bappeda).
During the presentation, the Untirta expert team reported that the damage assessment found 25 schools with severe damage, 3 schools with moderate damage, and 144 schools with minor damage. The breakdown is as follows:
Kindergarten level: 1 severely damaged, 15 slightly damaged
Elementary school level: 21 severely damaged, 3 moderately damaged, and 125 slightly damaged
Junior high school level: 3 severely damaged, 13 slightly damaged
With this mapping data, the Cilegon City Education Office is expected to enhance the accuracy of planning and budgeting for more efficient and effective management of educational infrastructure. This initiative also aims to create a safe, comfortable, and conducive learning environment for both students and teachers, in line with the mission of the Cilegon City Government to strengthen basic and secondary education infrastructure to ensure equitable and quality access for all Cilegon residents.
Furthermore, the results of this school infrastructure mapping can also be integrated into the Basic Education Data (Dapodik) by the respective schools. This will serve as a reference for the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education in making decisions related to the allocation of Physical Special Allocation Funds (DAK) or other school infrastructure support for Cilegon City through the Education and Culture Office.
