CCN, Cilegon, – Wonk Kite Theater Arts Community has triumphantly crafted an unforgettable evening for the citizens of Cilegon with their 4th-year theater class recital titled “Maling” (Thief). On Saturday, March 9, 2024, the Cilegon City DPRD Hall bore witness to an intriguing and humor-filled crime drama.
In a spirited performance that filled the duration with enthusiasm, Wonk Kite, standing strong for 19 years, continues to hold firm to its mission of introducing performing arts to the community. They aim to provide alternative education and character development for students through the art of performance. In their efforts to maintain the spirit of local artists, they engage in various activities and collaborate with artists from outside the city, infusing the artistic spirit into the hustle and bustle of Cilegon’s industrial landscape.
“Maling” is not just part of the theater class activities for the new batch in 2024; it is also their debut performance. The actors and aesthetic team, including Abudzar, Muchtar Zidan, Sobri Ardiansyah, Nur Irvan, Nabila Putra, Taufiq Amrozi, Siti Azzahra, Naila Dwi, Elis Nurhalisa, Zahrotusyita, Wahdatul Amelia, Indah Meilany, Sany Nur, and Jesica, are led by directors Muhammad Fazry and Astrada Ibnu Faissal, with production overseen by Rekta Nasywa Andrian.
Rekta Nasywa Andrian, the production head, explained that “Maling” is a carefully chosen script by Auf Sahid. The story humorously depicts thieves blaming each other, with a plot twist involving social issues such as corruption and law, where innocent individuals become victims of mistaken identity.
Wonk Kite Theater meticulously designed the performance, paying attention to audience comfort and the messages they wished to convey. They hope that the show receives appreciation not only from the citizens of Cilegon but also from people in other cities, making theater an art form enjoyed by a wider audience.
The performance was attended by various figures in arts and culture, the Head of the Cultural and Education Department of Cilegon, and the Chairman of the DPRD of Cilegon, Isra Miraj. Isra Miraj appreciated Wonk Kite’s efforts in preserving and advancing arts and culture in the community. He also welcomed the presence of actors from outside Cilegon, Pandeglang, and Bekasi, who contributed to the excitement of the artistic evening. (ahdi)
