CCN, Cilegon – Six prospective mayoral and vice mayoral candidates of Cilegon presented their visions and missions during a screening organized by the Regional Executive Board (DPW) of the Nasdem Party of Banten Province on Wednesday, May 15, 2024.
The candidates include Dede Rohana Putra, Isro Mi’raj, Alawi Mahmud, Helldy Agustian, Muhibudin, and Robinsar.
Isro Mi’raj, the Chairman of the Cilegon City Council (DPRD) who also serves as the Secretary-General of the Golkar Party’s Regional Leadership Council (DPD II) in Cilegon, conveyed his vision for Cilegon which he dubbed as “Cilegon Rejuvenation, Empowerment, and Cultural Enrichment.” According to Isro, this vision encompasses improving and enhancing the quality of governance and the environment, enhancing the quality of education, public health, development, equitable distribution of community welfare, and the development of local culture while adapting to industrial developments.
Isro proposed free education for 12 years for the residents of Cilegon. He cited Article 31, paragraphs 1 to 5 of the 1945 Constitution, which states that every citizen has the right to receive decent education. Additionally, the law also stipulates that a minimum of 20 percent of the Regional Budget (APBD) should be allocated to education. With this allocation, he plans to improve the quality of education not only in public schools but also in private schools.
Isro also pledged to continue the full scholarship program for undergraduate education that is currently underway under the administration of Helldy-Sanuji. He added that, in addition to scholarships, other facilities such as shuttle buses for students studying at Uniba, Unsera, and Untirta will be provided. (Red)
