CCN, Cilegon – The Regional Leadership Council (DPD) of the National Committee of Indonesian Youth (KNPI) in Cilegon held a Declaration of Peaceful Elections at Kalaka Park Cafe on Friday, November 17, 2023, aiming to maintain the situation in the upcoming 2024 political year.
During the declaration, KNPI Cilegon embraced the slogan “Youth Voices Determine the Nation’s Future,” signifying the unity of all groups in welcoming the democratic celebration with joy and cheerfulness.
Rizki Putra Sandika, Chairman of DPD KNPI Cilegon, explained that as a youth organization, KNPI should contribute vibrancy and a breath of fresh air to the warming political atmosphere. “KNPI Cilegon declares Peaceful Elections because we want to create a calm, peaceful, cheerful, and happy atmosphere for everyone. Despite the political year, the youth in Cilegon should not be divided; instead, we should unite to safeguard the condition and situation,” said Rizki Putra Sandika.
He emphasized the importance of the youth’s presence in various fields, especially during political circumstances, citing historical examples where youth successfully united various elements during past struggles.
“The presence of youth in every field is crucial because they have the power to determine the future of their nation. The key is united youth, nurturing, and being the agents of change,” he explained.
In the same venue, Edi Djunaidi, Secretary of DPD KNPI Cilegon, emphasized that democratic celebrations should prioritize ethics and courtesy to maintain peace. “It’s called a democracy party, it should be joyful, but still prioritize manners because our culture is an Eastern culture known for its good manners,” said Edi.
He also asserted that KNPI Cilegon does not take sides with any candidate. However, he stated that KNPI Cilegon allows its members to exercise their political rights freely. (***)
