CCN, CILEGON – The Cultural Village of Pabean, Purwakarta District, successfully held the Cultural and Arts Festival at the Pabean Village Office courtyard on Wednesday, September 4, 2024.
The event, which has been held annually since Pabean was designated as a Cultural Village by the Mayor of Cilegon based on Decree Number: 140/Kep.281-dindik/2022 concerning the Designation of Pabean Village, Purwakarta District as a Cultural Village, drew significant attention from the government, industry, banking institutions, and other organizations.
It is known that the Pabean Cultural and Arts Festival was supported by the Ministry of Education and Culture, specifically the Cultural Heritage Conservation Center (BPK) Region VIII, DKI Jakarta & Banten.
The event was enlivened by various competitions, ranging from traditional games such as Enggrang (stilts), Rubber Rope Jump, Operan/Bentengan, and Dampuan, to competitions involving each neighborhood unit (RW) such as the Rudat performance, Ngemping (rice pounding), and traditional cake-making contests.
The Head of the Pabean Village Cultural Awareness Group (POKDARBUD), Hasidi, expressed his gratitude for the successful organization of this event for the second time.
“Alhamdulillah, we are once again given the opportunity to hold this event, which is also part of our effort to preserve local culture,” he said.
Present at the event were representatives from BPK Region VIII DKI Jakarta & Banten, Wahyoel, Head of Culture Division Eva, Head of Tourism Division Wawan Ihwani, Head of Development for Purwakarta Subdistrict Eni, Pabean Village Chief Buhori, neighborhood leaders (RT/RW) from Pabean, former Pabean Village Chief Nurul Hadiyati, and other distinguished guests.
Wahyoel, a cultural representative from BPK Region VIII DKI Jakarta & Banten, appreciated the successful organization of the Pabean Cultural and Arts Festival, which was enthusiastically attended by local residents.
“We greatly appreciate this event. I noticed that the community is still very enthusiastic about participating in the various competitions and performances,” Wahyoel explained.
Meanwhile, after the event, Head of Culture Eva and Head of Tourism Wawan Ihwani reviewed the Traditional Cake-Making Contest and tasted some of Pabean Village’s traditional delicacies.
“This cake is truly special, and it tastes delicious and savory,” said Eva.
Pabean Village Chief Buhori also strongly supported the event organized by POKDARBUD.
“This is a very positive activity, especially since the organizers are all young people. This is part of an effort to explore, preserve, and develop traditional arts into captivating performances,” he explained.
Chairman of the Indonesian Journalists Association (PWI) of Cilegon City, Ahmad Fauzi Chan, who is also a partner of POKDARBUD, stated that his organization strongly supports the efforts made by the Cultural Village of Pabean in maintaining and preserving traditional culture.
“In the midst of foreign cultural influences, Alhamdulillah, many young people are still striving to promote and preserve the local culture,” he remarked.
