CCN, Cilegon- PT Krakatau Bandar Samudera, in commemoration of National Children’s Day 2024, invited the residents of Cilegon visiting Car Free Day at Krakatau Junction to celebrate National Children’s Day by participating in a series of events.
The event, held on Sunday, July 26, 2024, took place at Krakatau Junction in the Purwakarta District of Cilegon City. It was attended by the community, including children and parents. Various activities were organized, such as a snakes and ladders game with the theme of safe internet usage. This educational snakes and ladders game promoted good internet practices, highlighting both the positive and negative impacts of internet use on children.
Additionally, PT KBS’s mobile library, managed by the Eswka Foundation as a partner in the program, provided hundreds of children’s books for visitors to read at the event. There were also educational wooden toys available for children to play with.
The event was enlivened by performances, including a gamelan performance by SDN Ciwandan, poetry readings by SDN Temugiring, and dances by SDN Jangkar. These three schools are supported by KBS under the Adiwiyata school program.
Rositawati, Director of Human Resources and Finance at PT Krakatau Bandar Samudera, said in her speech that this activity reflects the company’s concern for the future of children. National Children’s Day 2024 serves as a moment for this event, with the hope that the company’s contributions will have a positive impact.
“This activity coincides with Voluntary Hour, where we encourage employees to donate books. Besides books, there are also free stationery items distributed to visitors at this Car Free Day event,” she said. “We hope this activity will have a lasting impact so that children in Cilegon can grow with good and quality human resources.”
“We hope that KBS can make a positive contribution to the community and bring joy to children on this National Children’s Day,” she concluded.
At the same event, Nur Cholis, Executive Director of Eswka Foundation, the organizer of the mobile library, said that the literacy improvement program through the library reaches communities in villages and schools. Children can read a variety of books. Currently, the mobile library, in collaboration with KBS, has many books, especially for children.
“We have collected hundreds of books. On this National Children’s Day, we received additional books through the Voluntary Hour activity from KBS employees who donated them to the mobile library,” he said.
He hopes that the mobile library, a collaboration between PT KBS and the Eswka Foundation, can improve literacy in the community. The activities include storytelling, mime performances, and parenting sessions.
“Hopefully, the mobile library and the events on National Children’s Day 2024 will be a moment to increase the Reading Interest Level (TGM) and the Community Literacy Development Index (IPLM) with the goal of improving the Human Development Index (IPM) in Cilegon,” he concluded.
