CCN, CILEGON – In the inaugural plenary session of the City of Cilegon Regional Representative Council (DPRD), Rizki Khairul Ichwan, the interim Chairman of DPRD, addressed several key points regarding the start of the 2024-2029 DPRD term. In his speech, Rizki Khairul Ichwan urged all DPRD members to reflect on their collective intentions in fulfilling the mandate of the people. “This mandate is the highest constitutional trust, where the people have placed their confidence and hope in us through the election process to be their voice,” he said
He emphasized the importance of sincere intentions and a constructive spirit, as well as an elaborative mindset in carrying out the duties over the next five years. “All our thoughts, energy, and time should be devoted solely to the interests of the people of Cilegon,” he added.
Rizki also expressed his gratitude to the leadership and staff of the DPD Golkar Party and the DPC Gerindra Party of Cilegon for the trust placed in him and the interim Vice Chairman of DPRD. He hopes for full support from all parties, including the DPRD members for the 2024-2029 term, the Forkopimda, and other partners, in navigating this transitional period successfully.
“God willing, with the support from various parties, we are confident that this transition will be managed well and productively, bringing benefits and welfare to all the people of Cilegon,” he said.
Furthermore, Rizki Khairul Ichwan thanked the members of the DPRD for the 2019-2024 term for their dedication and contributions to the development of Cilegon. He stated that the achievements and positive contributions made in the past five years will serve as motivation for the new DPRD to enhance performance and quality of service.
In conclusion, Rizki highlighted the three main functions of the DPRD: legislation, budgeting, and oversight. He stressed the importance of performing these functions transparently and accountably while always prioritizing the interests of the people. “Through good communication with the local government and all community elements, we are optimistic that we can carry out the duties and functions of the DPRD as a crucial pillar in Cilegon’s development,” he concluded.
The plenary session also marked the beginning of the interim DPRD leadership’s tasks, including leading meetings, facilitating the formation of factions, drafting DPRD regulations, and processing the appointment of the definitive DPRD leadership.
With a spirit of change, Rizki Khairul Ichwan concluded his speech with a quote from the founding father Sultan Sjahrir, “We need the courage to make changes, but also the wisdom to do it the right way.” May the mandate entrusted to the DPRD of Cilegon for the 2024-2029 term be carried out effectively, leading to a more advanced and just Cilegon.
