CCN, Cilegon, -At the official residence of the Mayor of Cilegon, the commemoration of Haul Syuhada Pejuang Geger Cilegon 1888 took place solemnly. The event, attended by various community, religious, and city government leaders, served as an important moment to remember the services of the heroes who perished in this historic event. One of the direct descendants of KH. Wasyid, KH. Mansyur Muhyidin, delivered a meaningful sermon about the wisdom of the Geger Cilegon 1888 event. In his sermon, KH. Mansyur reminded the audience of the importance of continuing the struggle of their ancestors.
“Alhamdulillah, tonight, full of blessings, barakah, and forgiveness, we can together carry out prayers to welcome the new Hijri year and commemorate the great event of the Hijrah of Prophet Muhammad from Mecca to Medina, as well as the haul of the heroes of Geger Cilegon 1888,” said KH. Mansyur in his speech.
He emphasized the importance of recalling past events so that the spirit of struggle never fades. “This commemoration is a command from Allah for us to always remember important events that have passed, so that our spirit remains as vibrant as the spirit of the companions of the Prophet and the fighters of Geger Cilegon,” he continued.
The event was also attended by historian Professor Mukti Ali, as well as scholars and religious leaders including the Rector of Alkhairiyah University.
“Tonight, historians and scholars are also present to straighten and perfect the history of our struggle, so it becomes a valuable lesson for the people of Banten,” added KH. Mansyur.
KH. Mansyur also shared stories about the ancestors’ struggle in spreading Islam in Banten, including the story of Maulana Hasanuddin who faced various obstacles to spread Islamic teachings.
The commemoration of Haul Syuhada Pejuang Geger Cilegon 1888 has become an important moment to remember and continue the struggle of the heroes who died for independence and justice. May their fighting spirit continue to flow in the blood of the future generations of Cilegon. (ahdi)
