CCN, Cilegon – The Indonesian Journalists Association (PWI) of Banten Province inaugurated the new management of PWI Cilegon City for the 2024-2027 period in a grand ceremony held on Wednesday, July 3, 2024. The event was attended by various important figures, including Cilegon Mayor Heldi Agustian, prospective mayoral candidates, government officials, industry leaders, activists, and students.
In his speech, the newly appointed Chairman of PWI Cilegon City, known as Kang Ican, expressed his commitment to enhancing the quality of journalism in Cilegon. “We are determined to provide more in-depth and investigative information, not just quick news and summaries. This is crucial to distinguish professional journalists from social media users,” said Kang Ican. He also emphasized the importance of PWI’s role.
Cilegon Mayor Heldi Agustian also delivered a speech highlighting the importance of collaboration between the government and the media. “I highly appreciate PWI’s initiative to hold discussions with mayoral candidates. This is a significant contribution in providing comprehensive information to the public,” said Mayor Heldi. He also expressed his support for the inauguration theme, which focuses on unity and understanding in overseeing leadership transitions.
The inauguration event also served as a forum for discussion on the commitment of city leadership candidates in realizing Cilegon as a smart city. Mayor Heldi explained that a smart city is not just a slogan, but encompasses various aspects such as smart living, smart environment, and budget transparency. “We must ensure that the policies taken can benefit all communities, from the city center to the remotest areas,” he stressed.
