CCN, Cilegon – The Regional Leadership Council of the National Committee of Indonesian Youth (DPD KNPI) of Cilegon City held a Casual Discussion to evaluate the leadership of Cilegon Mayor Helldy Agustian & Sanuji Pentamarta on Wednesday (11/07/2024) at Kedai Kopi Calderra Cilegon.
The discussion, themed “Evaluating the Leadership of the Mayor and Deputy Mayor of Cilegon for the 2021-2024 Period: BACKWARD, FORWARD, OR STAGNANT?” featured student organization leaders from the Indonesian National Student Movement (GMNI), the Indonesian Islamic Student Movement (PMII), and the Cilegon Student Association (IMC) as speakers.
At the end of Helldy Agustian and Sanuji Pentamarta’s term as Mayor and Deputy Mayor of Cilegon, students assess that many political promises remain unfulfilled, resulting in a failure to deliver welfare to the people of Cilegon.
Ikhwanul Muslimin, Chairman of DPC GMNI Cilegon, noted that during Helldy Agustian and Sanuji Pentamarta’s tenure, Cilegon City faced an increasingly alarming agricultural land crisis due to industrialization that neglected agricultural aspects and farmers’ rights.
“I see that the Cilegon city government today is neglectful regarding agriculture. Our research from DPC GMNI Cilegon shows that agricultural land in Cilegon city continues to shrink, leaving only about 1,100 hectares spread across eight sub-districts in 2023,” asserted Ikhwanul Muslimin in the talk show facilitated by DPD KNPI Cilegon City.
Similar views were expressed by Rega Rismawan, Chairman of PC PMII Cilegon City. According to him, Mayor Helldy Agustian’s leadership involves too many gimmicks and insubstantial awards, causing stagnation in Cilegon City’s development.
“We can see from several programs that have been implemented, such as the full scholarship program which lacks transparency, the stalled Northern Ring Road construction, which was clearly listed in the RPJMD, and the public’s access to healthcare, which was supposed to be free using an ID card but turned out otherwise in practice. These are collective notes,” he stated.
Arifin Solehudin, Chairman of the Cilegon Student Association, also expressed his criticism and affirmation of the failures in the leadership of Mayor Helldy Agustian and Deputy Mayor Sanuji Pentamarta in developing Cilegon City. According to him, at the end of their term, many problems remain unsolved.
“We can feel that until today, development in Cilegon city is still very minimal, poverty and unemployment rates are still high. Even the political promise of building public squares in 43 sub-districts has only realized about 15-17 squares. There is no monumental development that we can be proud of as Cilegon citizens, and public information transparency is still a major issue,” he concluded. (***)
